Conditioned Place Preference

The Conditional Place Preference (CPP) experiment is a classic animal behavior experiment based on drug reward effects, which is used to evaluate the reward/disgust properties of drugs or other stimuli, and is particularly widely used in addiction mechanism research and anti addiction drug screening.

The experiment utilizes the learning and memory abilities of animals towards environmental cues: by establishing a correlation between the reward effect of drugs and specific environments, and subsequently observing the animals' preference for the associated environment in the absence of drugs, the reward intensity of drugs and the animals' craving state for drugs can be quantified.
