Therapeutic Area
Formalin-Induced Inflammatory Pain Model

Subcutaneous injection of low-concentration formalin into the hind paw of rats or mice causes local tissue acute inflammation, tissue damage, and persistent pain behavior.

After injection, it is caused by formalin directly stimulating nerve endings, which belongs to direct chemical nociception.

It is jointly induced by local inflammatory response and spinal cord central sensitization, reflecting persistent inflammatory pain.
